Hi Everyone!

Almost time for our June show, so thought I’d better send a quick note out to make sure we’re all up to date on everything that’s in the works for our club!

First of all, orders are due this weekend for our At Home America fundraiser.  If you haven’t had a chance to talk to your family and friends to see if they’d like to order, you still have a couple of days.  Don’t forget to offer your catalog to adults at our shows, too!  Hopefully, we’re all having good luck with our sale, and this will be a good source of $ for our club!  I’ll be at the show all weekend, so please visit me at my trailer to turn in your order and checks, or find me when I’m wandering around the fairgrounds.  (My truck is a black dodge with an Integrity trailer…we park on the side of the outdoor arena opposite the barns)

I still have several packs of raffle tickets that haven’t been picked up to sell, and will work on handing them out to anyone on our youth membership list who hasn’t yet gotten theirs.  We need everyone to sell at least $30 worth of tickets to make this a successful sale….thanks to all of you for helping out!

I’ve been thinking about a project that would be fun for us to do as a club, and beneficial to others as well.  My idea is for us to do a “Kids helping Kids” food/supplies drive, to help out a local food pantry.  We could collect items that would specifically help needy families with children, such as diapers, formula, children’s toothpaste, shampoo, etc…   I’d like to start collecting donated items at our July show, at Bounds arena in Deerfield.  Deerfield actually has a food pantry, so maybe we could donate the items to immediate area?  I’d really like to have a youth member or two take this project over… if anyone is interested, please let me know J

Our July show at Bounds arena is coming up quickly, and we have a lot of work to do to get ready for it!  The youth club is in charge of running the food stand at this show, on both Saturday and Sunday.  We’ll need everyone who can to help out with donations of food for the sale…we had lots of compliments on how great the food and treats were from last year’s food stand in Elkhorn, and need to keep up the great work!  I’ll be sending out a separate email with a sign-up form soon…

APHA is offering an opportunity to help out the national club, and our own members.  From now until the end of the year, youth members can help sell raffle tickets for a 2010 Rustler utility vehicle.  More info at this site: http://www.ajpha.com/rustler/index.aspx

Tickets are $50, and for each one sold, APHA keeps $25, and will give $25 back to our youth club.  I will earmark the $25 we receive back from APHA for your individual show expenses at the Zone 5 show, in November, where we’re working on having a youth team to represent our state.  If anyone is interested in selling tickets, I have them on hand, and can get them to you this weekend. It’s a great opportunity to earn back some of your costs for showing, and great to help out our parent club at the same time.

One last, fun note!  I happen to know about two June birthdays for our club members… if you see Brittany Disch or Molly Moe at the show this weekend, please wish them both a Happy Birthday!  Brittany turned 11 on June 2, and Molly will be 10 on June 13th!

See you all soon,

Emily
