Open Futurity Rules 2016

2016 WPHC Open Futurity

Rules:

OPEN FUTURITY COMMITTEE

A.   The Committee shall consist of at least three (3) members, one of who shall serve as Chairperson.

B.    There will be an annual audit to monies and records of individual nomination, sustaining fees, penalties, etc. The results will be kept on file with the WPHC Board of Directors.

C.  There will be a quarterly report given to the Board of Directors. This report will include (but not limited to):  total nominations, sustaining payments, and total monies collected.

D.   The committee reserves the right, subject to the approval of the Board of Directors to cancel, postpone, or move the Open Futurity classes. All eligible exhibitors will be notified of any change(s) at least 30 days prior to the show.

RESPONSIBILITY OF PERSON(S) MAKING NOMINATION(S)

A.   Each year, the WPHC Open Futurity Committee will conduct a Futurity.

B.    Nomination forms will be published in a timely fashion.

C.  No substitutes will be allowed after the nomination has been made.

D.   In the event that a horse is withdrawn from the Futurity (either by failure to provide sustaining payments, not exhibiting in the class, or disqualification) all fees remain in the purse for the horse’s originally designated class.

E.    The owner of the horse exhibited and exhibitor must be a current member in good standing with the WPHC for that horse to be shown in the Futurity.

F.    Original registration papers or legible copy must be presented to the Futurity Secretary prior to entering all classes. This includes entries in the weanling classes.

G.  The WPHC Futurity Committee reserves the right to  all Futurity horses.

H.   Any Owner or Exhibitor subject to APHA disciplinary action will not be eligible to participate in any WPHC sponsored Futurity Show.

I.     If a NSF payment (check) is returned to the Futurity, the payee will be charged $25.00. If a person has a total of two (2) checks returned for insufficient funds during a calendar year, that person will be on a cash/money order only basis for a period of one (1) year after the last NSF check was received. A NSF check will be considered non-payment. The entry will be considered late and late fees will apply.

CONDUCT OF THE OPEN FUTURITY

A.   There will be no less than two (2) judges. A minimum of one-judge hired must be APHA approved. In the event of a multi-judge show (POR) held in conjunction with the Futurity, all judges hired for the POR will judge all Futurity classes. Each judge’s score will be of equal consideration when tallying points for each horse judged. All horses exhibited in a class will be placed. (i.e. if 20 horses are exhibited, all 20 horses will be placed.)

B.    In the event of a tie, the tying horses will be recognized for that position with the purse of the position added and divided between the horses tied.

Example:  If three horses tie for the top position, the horses will be recognized as follows:

1st – three way tie

4th place

5th place, etc.

The purse for the three places will be added together and divided equally between the top three horses.
